Ryan Straschnitzki is a former hockey player for the Humboldt Broncos and a survivor of the tragic bus crash that changed his life in 2018. Left paralyzed from the chest down, Ryan has turned his life’s challenges into opportunities for growth and inspiration. He is the founder of the Straz Strong Foundation, which supports individuals with disabilities through adaptive sports, rehabilitation access, and awareness campaigns.
Since the accident, Ryan has pursued an ambitious goal: to compete in the Paralympics. His journey has been one of perseverance, marked by intense physiotherapy and mental resilience. Despite the obstacles, Ryan’s unwavering determination to walk again and succeed on the world stage has made him an inspiring figure to many.

As a keynote speaker, Ryan shares his powerful story of survival, recovery, and personal growth. His message of resilience, positivity, and mental toughness resonates with a wide range of audiences, from corporate teams to schools and sports organizations. He speaks on themes such as overcoming adversity, mental and physical toughness, leadership and teamwork, and creating positive change through adaptive sports.
Ryan has received international recognition for his advocacy work, as well as support from communities around the world. Through his foundation, he aims to ensure people with disabilities have access to the resources they need to lead fulfilling lives. His dream is to create a world where individuals with physical and mental disabilities are empowered through sport, social awareness, and affordable rehabilitation services.
